FOIA Requests
Village of Round Lake Heights maintains rules and regulations implementing the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) which provide procedures, instructions, and forms for obtaining Village public records.
All requests for public records must be submitted to the Village in writing via personal delivery, mail, fax, e-mail, etc. The Village encourages submitting requests using the convenient on-line services form or the FOIA Request Form is also available at the Village Hall. The Village will respond to each written request in a manner consistent with the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. In order to expedite the search for the records, please be as specific as possible.
Requests for Police information should be directed to FOIA REQUEST - POLICE DEPARTMENT.
Copies of public records will be provided upon payment of a copying fee, if applicable, as provided in Section IV(b) of the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140/4(b). If requested, copies of public records will be mailed after the Village receives payment of the actual cost of postage and copying.
Organizational Description
The Village of Round Lake Heights is a municipality organized under the Constitution and Laws of the State of Illinois. The Village operations include police protection and public order, control over building and construction, public buildings, streets and public ways, and operation of water and sewer systems.

General Information
The Village has the following general categories of records, which are available as required by the Freedom of Information Act: minutes, ordinances, resolutions, Building Department files, Police Department records, general information files. Requests for public records should be directed to the Freedom of Information Officer at the Village Hall, 619 W Pontiac Court, Round Lake Heights, IL 60073 and may be obtained by filling out a Freedom of Information Act request for information form. The fee for copies of public records is reproductive charge: $.15 per page for photo-copying (first 50 pages free).
Requests and other communication regarding Village records relating to a request to inspect, copy, or certify public records, all requests for copies of the FOIA Rules, and all requests for any other information relating to the Village’s implementation of the Illinois Freedom of Information Act must be directed to:
