Garbage & Recycling

GROOT provides the garbage and recycling collection services for the Village of Round Lake Heights.

Yard Waste Subscription Program

Yard waste is picked up beginning April to last Friday in November (on the same day as trash and recycling). Place yard waste containers/bags at curb. Leaf pickup is mid-October to the last Monday in November.

Acceptable items include grass clippings, leaves, branches (broken into manageable length) and brush.

No limbs larger than 2 inches in diameter. Limbs and brush must be bundled and tied at 50lbs. max weight and 4ft max length. Non-acceptable items include dirt, stone, and concrete.

Solid Waste & Hazardous Waste

Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (SWALCO) provides solid waste management programs to Lake County. These programs are aimed at reducing our reliance on landfills through source reduction, recycling and energy recovery. In general, their programs help residents dispose of problem wastes, such as household chemicals, electronic equipment, and yard waste. Recycling programs are targeted at both commercial and residential markets in order to divert as much solid waste as possible from reaching landfills.

Garbage & Recycling Update effective May 15, 2020

Groot has decided to lift/discontinue the temporary measure outlined in our March 22nd memo.  This means that we will begin collecting bulk items, construction and demolition debris, white goods and e-waste effective May 15th for Round Lake Heights. Groot still continues to ask residents placing out bagged garbage to make sure it is sealed/tie off.
